Medicines
We give medicine in school only with the written consent of your child's doctor, and only after the Headteacher and Deputy Headteacher have agreed it. We consider medicine for long-term conditions only.
For a short course, such as antibiotics, please arrange to give the doses yourself outside school hours.
Children must not bring medicine of any kind to school - tablets, liquids or anything else.
Tell us about your child's medical needs on the medical form.
Accidents and first aid
Staff deal with minor accidents. If your child has a serious accident, we contact you straight away.
We record first aid on Medical Tracker, and you receive an email whenever we give your child first aid.
Keep your details up to date
We need a phone number that reaches you in an emergency. Check your address and phone number in MyChildAtSchool, and tell the office straight away when they change.
Sickness and diarrhoea
Keep your child at home for 48 hours after the last episode. See attendance and absence.
A safe site
- We lock the pupil gates at 9:00. After that, everyone uses the main entrance.
- Every visitor signs in at the office, and a member of staff goes with them around the school.
- Outside doors stay locked during lessons but open at once in a fire.
- We practise fire drills every term, and review our risk assessments all year.
- We test electrical equipment and the water supply regularly.
- Staff supervise closely at playtime and lunchtime, and trained first aiders are on duty.
