Keeping children safe

Safeguarding and child protection

✔ Checked: 13.10.2026

Our first priority

Every pupil's safety and wellbeing comes first. The Headteacher, Gwyn Pleming, and the Deputy Headteacher, Mr Gafyn Lloyd Jones, share the role of Designated Safeguarding Person. They advise and support the staff on every child protection matter. Our safeguarding governor, Bethan Thomas, makes sure our Child Protection Policy follows the Wales Safeguarding Procedures, which every member of staff must follow.

What we must do

If we learn something that suggests a child has been harmed, or is at risk of harm, the law requires us to tell social services or the police without delay. We have no choice in this.

When we have a general worry about a child, we raise it with you first and work with you to put it right. In some cases, the law requires us to speak to other agencies before we contact you.

Worried about a child? Ring the school on 01248 714478. Someone will always pick up a safeguarding call.
